The renewal of the APS/CBC Agreement starts on February 1, 2022
Parties will commence negotiations at the beginning of February for the APS/CBC collective Agreement which will expire on March 31, 2022. Early start date agreed to by both parties aiming at a quick renewal in accordance with a tradition now solidly entrenched in the labour relations practices between the corporation and the association.
Because of COVID restrictions, the negotiations will be done in remote mode via a Google Meet Application with participants located in different areas of the country making this experience an unprecedented challenge for all.
APS has been at work for many months to undertake the renewal of the agreement. In autumn, the teams were on the go to start preparations.
Under the guidance of National President Stéphane Désautels, a survey committee was at work supervising the consultation of APS members to guide the intervention of the CROP firm responsible for the survey conducted in October. The National Council followed suit to debate renewal orientations in early November. And finally, a Negotiation Committee was formed to represent APS at the negotiation table.
The members of that committee to support Stéphane Désautels as the main spokesperson are the two presidents of our main Locals: Nathan Farr from Toronto and Sébastien Fleurant from Montreal. Two other experienced members, Calum McLeod (Toronto Director) and David MacFarlane (National Secretary) respectively from Toronto and Edmonton will complete the team along with Claude Beausoleil the GM who has officiated since the very first APS negotiation. Maria Gaglione our trusted Coordinator will be in charge of the complicated task of coordination for this first online experience of negotiation.
Presentation of union demands will be tabled at the beginning of the process with priorities on the better salaries and suitable teleworking arrangements clearly expressed by our members in our consultation survey.
As in the past, the Negotiation Committee will keep in touch as negotiations progress to keep you informed.
