APS and CBC agree on the renewal of the collective agreement for three years, subject to approval by APS members.

In intensive negotiations since the beginning of February, with multiple sessions per week, representatives of the Association and the employer targeted a deal for the renewal of the agreement before its expiration date on March 31, 2022. They reached their goal on March 25, to the satisfaction of both parties.

It is Now up to the Participating Members

Following the March 25 signing at the Negotiation table between APS representatives and CBC/Radio-Canada, virtual meetings of APS members will be organized on April 5 to present the content of the new agreement to those attending, which will then be submitted to participating APS members for approval.

That will be carried out under the supervision of Big Pulse which has conducted similar consultations and votes for APS for many years. The voting will run from April 5 until April 12 at 4:00 p.m. Only participating members will be allowed to vote, in accordance with APS By-Laws.

However, members without that status can join until April 4, by clicking the following link: apscbcsrc.org/registration-form/

The presentation for the content of the agreement will be held in French at 11.00 a.m. on April 5 and at 1:00 p.m. in English on the same day. In virtual format, the presentation will be organized to accommodate as many participants as possible by accepting voting members as well as non-voting members.

A Three-Year Agreement

APS’s Negotiation Committee signed a Memorandum of Agreement on March 25, to accept the new three-year agreement.

APS’s National Executive Committee in turn unanimously endorsed the Memorandum of Agreement during a meeting held on March 29. The National Executive Committee will now submit its recommendation for the approval of participating APS members.

The APS Negotiation Committee was headed by Stéphane Désautels, the National President, seconded by David MacFarlane, National Secretary and by the Presidents of the two largest Locals, Nathan Farr for Toronto and Sébastien Fleurant for Montreal. Calum McLeod, Toronto Director and Claude Beausoleil, the General Manager completed the team.

The collective agreement, if approved by members, will be in force from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2025.
