Issuance of Amended Relevé 1
We want to inform you about a recent correction to your Relevé 1 slip (also known as Statement 1) for the 2022 tax year. This was necessary due to a miscalculation in the old pay system, which had generated the information in the statement until recently.
Sales Tax on Social Benefits
The error relates to the calculation of the provincial sales taxes applicable to the employer contributions made on your behalf for benefits, specifically for certain dental premiums offered by the Corporation.
Representation by CBC Unions
Following this announcement, all unions jointly asked the employer to obtain an agreement from Revenue Quebec that employees affected by this situation are not required to file an amended income tax return.
No Action Required From You
The employer has now confirmed that you will not need to resubmit your 2022 tax return. Revenue Quebec will make the necessary adjustments to your file. If applicable, you will receive a new notice of assessment indicating the amounts due in connection with this increase in your taxable income.
If you wish, you can always change your 2022 tax return. However, you are not required to do so.
Communication from the Employer
You should have received an email explaining this situation from the employer. We are told that these emails were sent between April 26 and 29.
On or about May 3rd, the employer will mail you the documentation (Statement – RL-1 tax slip for the 2022 taxation year) and communicate it to Revenue Quebec.
