APS participating members massively approve the new collective agreement.
At the closing of the electronic vote for the participating members of APS on the fate of the new collective agreement, the answer was loud and clear with 89.03% in favour of the National Executive Committee’s recommendation to approve the new deal.
Stéphane Désautels, the National President, commented on the result after his first experience as the head of the Negotiation Committee: « Despite many hurdles, at the table where we had changed formats from virtual to person-to-person and back again to virtual because of COVID, we finally came up with a proposal that resulted in a major victory for all of us. I want to thank all of those who participated in this success ».
Record Participation for Members’ Meeting and Vote
To present the content of changes negotiated between the parties APS had convened its members for a virtual information session on April 5 under the technical supervision and professional skills of Sébastien Fleurant, the Montreal Local President. The initiative paid off with over 600 members in attendance for the presentation of the new agreement proposal.
Moreover, the success of the formula was followed by a record for the vote that followed with a 65,24% participation rate.
The virtual approach gave wings to communication between APS and its members. Last year, under the same format, we also reached a participation record for our National Council. The consequences of COVID have led us to consider a new communication model for the future.
Retroactive Agreement
The new agreement will be enacted retroactively from April first to its conclusion on March 31, 2025. This means that negotiated changes will be in force for the salary revisions coming this summer.
