The National Executive Committee of APS has appointed Mr. Sylvain Lapointe as the new General Manager of the Association during its meeting on November 16, 2022, in the context of the National Council of the organization held in Montreal. The nomination was endorsed unanimously as the result of a proposal tabled by Stéphane Désautels, the National President of the union.
Sylvain is joining the family in the aftermath of a long and successful career at Canada Post, where he served both as an elected officer and a labour relations professional for one of the most important unions in the country.
He is succeeding Claude Beausoleil, who retired at the end of the twenty-seventh (27) APS National Council organized in virtual mode for the second year in a row, reaching a participation record never before seen in the history of the Association. The General Manager’s position has existed since the year 2000 when the National Executive Committee at the time had given birth to the function upon the accession to the National Presidency by Mr. Stephen Moore from Toronto. To ensure a smooth transition, Messrs. Lapointe and Beausoleil will work together until the beginning of 2023.
Sylvain, the new General Manager, had the following words to begin his mandate:” I want to thank the APS Executive for believing in me. I feel honoured by the nomination. I see my role by placing top priority in servicing the members of the Association while pledging to supply all the efforts needed to reach that goal.”
